Homemade surface drive mud motor.
Couple things to keep in mind with the surface drive. They do weigh a lot. My 35hp weighs in around 300-350lbs. On my 17ft Phowler, i get speeds of 28mph by myself and anywhere from 16-22mph loaded down. All depends on the water conditions as well. I do use my mud motor in the salt marsh quite a bit and it can get pretty choppy out there.

In slow bumping and grinding, digging in and crawling through tight situations, looking at firm bottoms and sunken logs. The long tail is the better performer.
